Denying the existence of homosexuals in your country, asking if the Holocaust really happened, and questioning who was really behind 9/11 all seem like good ways to get yourself laughed at. And that's pretty much what happened when Iran's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad spoke at Columbia University this week. I think allowing someone such a public forum for speech who is so full of hate, and condones this hate in his own nation was ridiculous and should not have happened. Calling for the destruction of Israel, denying the Holocaust, and referring to homosexuality as a "phenomenon" that his country does not have are all completely ludicrous thoughts in the 21st century. But here's something else I have a problem with - the way Columbia University's president, Lee Bollinger, introduced him was embarrassing. If you haven't seen it, watch the clips, they're all over YouTube and CNN.com - basically what makes me angry about this is that it makes us look ridiculous and gave Ahmadinejad the chance to basically say, "We don't treat guests this way in my country" and actually -albeit temporarily - come out looking like not so bad of a guy. Talking shit about him right before he takes the podium was not a smart move. How do you think this is going to viewed internationally? We're going to look like even bigger arrogant douchebags than we already do because our autistic monkey of a president has seen to that.
Despite my best efforts, I am digging Kanye's new single, 'Stronger'. I think Kanye West is a giant douchebag. That's not to say he's not talented, his lyrics are sick and he's a very talented musician. He just also happens to be a giant douchebag as a result of this talent. Throwing tantrums because you don't win a fucking MTV award is stupid. Like MTV music awards really even matter, douche. Shut up. But still, I like the new single. I am also liking everything else I am hearing off the album too. But that will never change your douchebaggery. And I will never actually give you money by purchasing the album. Douche.
I wish Stewart and Colbert really would run for president and vice president. I know it'll never happen but come on, who is more qualified? None of the candidates running right now are...
